The other day I spent some time with the son of a friend. He’s 4 and boy do I miss that age. We did a lot of this….
And the weekend before last my hubby brought this home to me….a gorgeous coffee table and tiered…something or other
This week I am on a week of vacation and I’m LOVING it! The weather is amazing and not feeling pressed with too much to do….it’s doing wonders for my soul.
One of my goals this week is to get my Etsy shop updated and going again. I’ve already started and hope to have a full stock of inventory listed by the middle of this week. Some of what is going in my shop are lined zippered pouches I worked on over the last year.
(please forgive the lighting of these photos – a high school gymnasium does not provide the best lighting for photographs)
and also going in the shop soon, fun bookmarks! Who doesn’t love a cute bookmark?
My world has yet to settle into what I would consider routine. I’m still running around like a chicken with its head cut off. This must just be a new phase in my life that I’m struggling to acclimate to. I get up, get the kids ready for school, go to work, come home, clean and make dinner, run the boys to wherever they need to go, come home, do more cleaning and with a lot of luck on a good day I get some sewing/crafting done. Then its back out the door to get the boys, bring them home, feed them, shuttle them through their nighttime ritual and then it’s to bed after more cleaning, working and delaying. Delaying meaning not going to bed when I ‘could’ because instead I’d like to take a few moments to just revel in the calm that exists only when my boys are in bed and the animals are sleeping.
I have my first craft show coming up the last weekend of October. I’m fighting the urge to slip into panic mode as I’m still a ways from having a sufficient inventory. For about 2/3’s of a day I was convincing myself it made sense to just forget the whole thing. It’s all stupid and a waste of time. I need to give up my goals of selling my creations. I had myself pretty darn convinced. And then I got about 20 minutes to myself to actually sew. And it felt great. And in that moment I was reminded as to why I want to pursue this.
I’ll post some pics soon of my stuff. To keep me from getting bored or overwhelmed, I have several types of items I’ll be selling so I get to switch up my projects and still work towards the same goal. Brilliant!
On another note, I got word that my dreadlocks are just about ready to be shipped! I’m so excited!! This is a picture of what they’ll look like. I can’t wait to get them!
eep! So excited!
Good heaven’s my world has been a whirlwind as of late. Is that sentiment getting redundant? I spend most of my days trying to catch up with myself. Without much success I might add.
The football season has our little family fairly preoccupied. We spent 9 and a half hours STRAIGHT at football games on Saturday. Evenings are spent cooking, cleaning and running off to practice. I think we’re figuring out a routine though which is creating more organization and less chaos. I think.
The really great part is that fall is creeping in and I’m getting pretty excited about it. There’s just something about a crisp evening of football with a pumpkin spice latte that really makes you appreciate the simple things in life.
I will admit, watching my oldest son playing High School football has been pretty exciting. Especially with him getting a decent amount of playing time on the JV team and slowly making his way on the field during Varsity games Friday nights. I think for most football players, playing Friday nights under the lights is probably exciting. I can only imagine it feels pretty good to be a Freshman being pulled up to the play with the big boys.
Meanwhile, my attempts to document my going-on’s with a camera have failed miserably.
I’ve been crafting/sewing, experimenting more with my growing vintage wardrobe.
I have a few craft shows lined up so I’m pretty pumped about that. Planning for that has me revved up and ready to get things moving. But one step at a time. I’m hoping my bags sell well this Friday. My Etsy shop has taken a back seat because of this but that’s okay. I’m pretty content with how things are rolling.
So, no pictures. If only I could stick a flash drive in my ear and download all the images and ideas floating around. But alas, technology is not quite that advanced yet.
This girl is on a roll!
First things, first. I’m ker-razy excited that dreadlocks are in my future! I’ve been playing around with the idea for months and I am finally taking the plunge. And not only that, I was lucky enough to win a $25 gift certificate for the Etsy shop I will be ordering from, Damnation Hair. Saturated Canary ran the giveaway and I may have pumped my fist in the air when I saw that I had won. If you haven’t been over to meet Krista, please do. I came across her blog about a year ago (my how time flies) and instantly became smitten!
Second, I can’t get over how beautiful my husband’s photos look in his Etsy shop. (click image to go to his shop)
He definitely has creative components to his soul and to see him sharing that part of himself with others warms my heart. He’s dabbled with sketching, character and architectural. I love that he’s this creative guy underneath a guys-guy exterior.
THIRD! I have finally gotten stocked up with supplies to get my new line of roller derby accessories and fall/winter projects underway. I need to have an inventory ready to sell in two weeks so I’ve got to get caught up. And then, hopefully, I’ll be hitting up my first round of craft shows this coming winter and spring.
AND I will be helping my youngest son make bracelets out of this wire. He really loves making/creating things and at this point he achieves his most success making jewelry. I adore it but I do worry about other kids harshly judging my 11 year creative son. So instead of earrings we are going to work on creating seriously awesome bracelets and whatnot out of this wire. We’re pretty pumped.
Fourth. Look at this beautiful couch that now sits on my front porch. My man wasn’t too keen on it when I told him that we were going to be the happy owners of a new-old couch but I just knew he’d love it. And sure enough, it’s everyone favorite place to hang out. This part of our house is the dreamiest. The breeze that comes through the two corner windows is simply divine.
And this is the view from that window you see there. For some reason it really relaxes me. The garden, the creek (especially after it rains and water is high and flowing) and then off to the right (not pictured) is a windmill.
Fifth. My Etsy shop is well underway with new stuff. I’d love it if you stopped by to take a gander.
Ever since school started up for my boys our lives have been a little hectic. I’m not really even sure why. The only thing that has really changed is how they’re spending their days, the evenings are the same. But yet, here we are, discombobulated, unsettled and out of sorts.
One thing that we have been able to check off our ‘to do’ list is to get an Etsy shop set up for the man. He likes to take photographs during his canoe trips and I’ve encouraged him for a while to put himself out there to see if anyone likes his work. So here it is, finally, his Etsy shop: George Williams
